Reflections

Being Black on the planet has been a complex reality during my lifetime.  No more than my parents before me and theirs before them. Somewhere during the course of history our role as people of African descent shifted.

I believe our ancestors were the ones who brought the technological knowledge, spiritual practices and Cosmic wisdom to humans, beginning in Kemet, long before the flood.  Knowledge that built Pyramids and other monuments around the globe that are a testimony to their creators,  Ii also believe that we continue to hold this knowledge within us.

Yet, for several centuries now, we have had a different role on the world stage.

The Atlantic slave trade, with its brutality, misrepresentations, outright lies and terrorism, catapulted us into the social location of the oppressed.  The trauma continues even as some of us begin to remember our true Essence, power and knowledge.

Since time is actually timeless, nothing is ever really lost.  It is a matter of remembering.

So I’ve asked a few times in the last year, how did we come to be where we are?  I really needed some answers, because stuff just wasn’t making sense to me.

So, these are a few things that came to me.

I had a text conversation with my granddaughter in which I mentioned I was reflecting on the meaning of life.  So of course she wanted to know what I thought it was.  It came to me that life on earth is a Spiritual Bootcamp.  It is chosen by those Cosmic souls who want to test themselves and stretch themselves to remember their true Essence in the most intense ways possible.

Since we are spiritual beings having a human experience, we choose our life lessons before we're born.  Every experience is for the purpose of deepening us spiritually and guiding us back to remembrance that our true Essence is Spirit residing in matter.  And Spirit manages matter, not the other way around.  The more we realize this, the more we are able to create the experiences that bring us peace and joy.

So why would some of us choose to come be on the planet as people of African descent in modern history?

I believe we are still teaching those who are disconnected from their true Essence, that their Essence is not generated by themselves, but by a Power beyond them that they have no control over.  Why would we choose to do so?  Especially in light of some of the horrendous circumstances too many of us have endured?

I believe we decided to show up at this time because of our knowledge of what is true and our recognition of what it takes for the unconscious to become conscious.  We are familiar with the Spirit Realm, We know how temporary this life on earth is.  We know that there is a Power, God, Source, the ALL - a Consciousness so far beyond our comprehension that all we can do is stand in awe of it.

So we caused ourselves to be enslaved, brutalized, murdered, raped, oppressed, marginalized, and otherwise treated like dung?

Of Course not!!!

But we are the people who know how to fly!  And we continue to do so.  If we don’t yet remember how to do so with our physical bodies, we do know how to tap into the Spirit Realm for help and for healing. We  know that there is a God, there are universes, there is a Cosmos.  There are planets and beings that radiate light, love and peace.  We know that our existence on this planet is NOT all there is.  There is much, much more.  More good.  More light.  More creativity.  More ecstasy.

No, it does not eliminate the pain of trauma and destruction. It does allow us, if we survive, to choose to keep going — and at some point, to thrive again.

For me, being Black, being Black and woman - is the greatest gift I could ever have. My social location on this planet, in this nation, at this time in history has had sometimes life-threatening challenges. Between my family issues, personal issues, and those of just about everybody else I know, “life a’int been no crystal stair.” But I wouldn’t give nothing for my journey.

Because it has allowed me to see things from many, many different perspectives.  And the one thing I know for sure, is that there is always a bigger picture than anything I, or we, may go through - ALWAYS.

This gives me hope.  For that I am grateful!
