About Course

About this course

You don’t need to have any art skills or practice to learn how to use art and visual material in your spiritual healing of trauma.  There is no right or wrong way to do art in art therapy; It’s okay to mess up.

Art Therapy will teach people to enjoy and benefit from the arts expressing and dealing with difficult emotions, gaining coping skills, processing trauma, and more.  It teaches you how to use mindfulness to connect the past and push/reach further into the future.

The goal of using the arts and visual materials in therapy is not necessarily to create something you would display, (although you might.) The purpose of art therapy is to tap into different parts of the brain using imagination, metaphor, and images to gain new perspectives, to help you on your healing journey.

For example, you might use pens, pencils, crayons, paint, chalk, clay or collage. You might also use digital media (vision boards), such as photos or video.
