More Than Meets the Eye

As we follow Auset along her journey, it is good to remember that  there was more happening than her physical quest.  Clearly her quest was also spiritual.  Surely she wondered what lesson she was supposed to be learning.

At these kinds of times, a sense of isolation gives rise to the questions, “Why me?” and “Where are You?” as we seek a steady foundation in the Higher Power of our understanding.  Auset had to have known the reality, the truth – of a Being, a Force, an Energy, deeper and greater than what the eye could see.

Because of past experience, Auset had  hope that a future was possible for her, and that hope gave her the energy and will to step into it.  This may sound like ‘pie in the sky’ thinking when we are in the midst of something that feels threatening or our foundation feels on the verge of a quake.  I was talking with a woman I know the other day about a meeting she has coming up.  She is not convinced that it will go well because she has reason for not trusting the persons involved to be invested in her best interests.  After determining that there probably was not a person she could appropriately invite to go into the meeting with her, I suggested she remember to invite the angels who have watch over all our ways - that she remember that God would be with her – that there was help that would be with her beyond what the eye could see.  I am not convinced she felt this was a sufficient solution!

She believes in a Power greater than herself who she chooses to call God.

But sometimes it seems like it would be more comforting to have somebody we can see with us when facing certain challenges. These are the times when  our practices to stay in touch with the Source of our Inner Power can seem most useless and they are the very times these practices are most important.

Finding ways to stay centered in the Creator has been the quest of humanity since the beginning of our existence.  It is one of the ways we choose life.  Our practices of meditation, prayer, silence, time in nature, breath work and other spiritual practices, keep us aware that God is always there, always here

If wars, violence and destruction of human, animal and other life on earth is an indication, too many of us humans-doing seem to have lost our connection with the Source of our being.  But it also seems to me that even with all that is happening in our times and all that has happened throughout human existence that we know of, and for all that we hope to come, there is a Grand Plan.

A Plan that is more than meets the eye, designed to create and being forth peace, life and love for all people and all of creation.  Life continues to be born and it is absolutely amazing!  Just ask some of us who have lived to see our grandchildren and great-grandchildren!

This is the kind of hope that Auset must have believed in and known.  She was able to experience the miracle of birth and rebirth.  This is the truth of the cycle of life - a never ending spiral of birth, life, death, rebirth.  Some of us give birth to children, others give birth to  new ideas – to books, a signature dish the whole family loves to eat, a piece of art, the music of an instrument we play or a dance we perform, beauty in our homes. Even the simplest acts of creation keep us in touch with the Source beyond what meets the eye.  These, and other connections with the Source of our being, are reminders that the power of life and of love never die.  Like Auset, we too can step into the future with hope.  And hope is a prerequisite to manifestation! So let`s keep hope alive and well.  It`s worth the effort!

My hope is in participating with others to dream and create a world in which my grandchildren and their children and their children can live in safety, harmony with others and peace - for millennia to come.

What keeps your hope alive?
